The goal of the CBUFA Equity Committee is to achieve a working environment which strives for inclusiveness as well as social and economic fairness through recognition, respect, accountability, responsibility and representation for marginalized
groups who may be excluded from full participation in the academy. These groups include but are not limited to Indigenous peoples; women;visible/racialized minorities; persons with disabilities; and those marginalized due to sexual orientation or gender identity. The CBUFA Equity Committee will seek to achieve this goal by monitoring equity issues, proposing policy changes , and undertaking appropriate initiatives on behalf of the CBUFA membership.
Promote awareness and communication within CBUFA concerning policies and issues of relevance to the membership ranging from social justice and urgent actions to CAUT bulletins, Supreme Court Decisions, and equity issues updates. To promote awareness and encourage action on issues of social justice and global citizenship. This could include a variety of activities such as: exploring options for ethical investment; working with CBU's green committee to promote sustainable practices amongst faculty ; working with relevant offices on campus to encourage sustainable and ethical processes at CBU. To build links with other campuses and unions working on social justice issues. This could involve building partnerships and/ or working with specific unions in the global south that face persecution/ repression when promoting the rights of their members.
